What is breast milk and breast milk?

Apa Itu Susu Awal & Susu Akhir Ibu?

The first milk is the milk in the "front" of the breast milk plant (inside the breast). Therefore, when the lactation process occurs, the first milk will come out first. The first milk is more liquid (more water) and has a green or blue color. Contains carbohydrates, proteins and vitamins.

Colostrum is also the milk "behind" the breast. It is more concentrated, contains more calories and fat. The color is different from the front milk, the rear milk looks thick and "rich".

Which is more important between the front milk (early milk) and the back milk (late milk)?

The answer to both is very important. The first milk, as I wrote above, contains proteins, vitamins, carbohydrates and lactose, which are important for the development and energy of the baby's brain. Colostrum also quenches our baby's thirst because it contains a lot of water (so breastfed babies don't need boiled water, right? Milk contains enough water). Colostrum also contains fat, which is important for the growth and development of our babies. If the baby does not get enough first milk, the baby may become dehydrated (lack of water in the body), and if the second milk is not enough, the baby is not full and growth is not very good.

Therefore, it is very important to feed the baby so that the breast is light, that is, that the baby receives breast milk. With this, the baby will feel full and will enjoy all the benefits of the first milk.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that the mother express the breast many times (expression or direct suction) because theoretically the less milk there is in the breast, the more breast milk there is; thick (no wonder some moms think milk thickens more on an empty stomach or on an empty stomach). Moms who let their breasts swell and wait for "full milk" will find that their milk looks more liquid when pumped and in the battle between first milk and second milk = more first milk.

If there is more milk before then, the baby will drink a lot of "liquid milk" and will not feel full (like when we drink water but do not eat). Signs that it is a peach before milk:

  1. Children are always different.
  2. swollen baby
  3. Baby dirt is green
  4. The child is not complete.
  5. The baby is not gaining adequate weight.
  6. Children often have very loose stools.

So, if the mother finds out that the baby has the above objects, the possible reasons:

  1. Breast milk imbalance between breast milk and breast milk: more breast milk.
  2. The breasts change rapidly during lactation, the child does not have time to receive milk in return.
  3. The mother's milk is so abundant that the baby does not have time to receive it, because the milk from the back is “full”.
  4. Babies who suck a little fall asleep, they do not have time to recover the milk.

So what can mothers do?

Feed the baby with only one breast. He is pam on the other hand.
Nursing mothers can breastfeed regularly and breastfeed in between.

  1. Bottle just before feeding the baby so that the baby receives the colostrum.
  2. Continuous packing to reduce the osmotic reaction, making the milk more fluid, allowing for more frequent emptying of the breasts.
  3. high protein and fiber intake.

So moms, especially new moms, if you are having problems like the above, check out the reasons I have listed, which are some of the reasons that will "hit" you. If you notice your baby isn't drinking enough, gaining weight, or has green stools, don't give up too soon...it's not a sign that she's not drinking enough milk, she may have too much milk. The stomach is already full so that the baby does not collect milk.
